MP Halts Sand Mining: Three-Month Ban on Sand Transportation

The Madhya Pradesh government has completely stopped sand mining and transportation from sand mines for three months, following a National Green Tribunal-mandated monsoon curfew lasting from June to October. This decision aims to protect river ecosystems, preserve aquatic life during breeding season, and curb rampant illegal sand mafia activities across the state.
Sand transportation has been banned in Madhya Pradesh. Mining from sand mines has been completely stopped. There will be no sand mining in the state for three months from July 1. This decision has been taken due to monsoon.
Sand transportation has been banned in MP from July 1 to September 30. During this time, mining from sand mines will be completely stopped. Now, from July 1 to September 30, trade will be done only with the sand deposited in the storage facility till June 30.
From July 1, the district administration team will go to the authorized storage sites and verify the rate stock.
ETP is issued to bring sand from the mine and store it, on the basis of which the quantity of stock is decided. Let us tell you that sand transportation has been banned in Madhya Pradesh due to monsoon. Mining is banned every year during monsoon.
