A state level program will be organized on the occasion of World Sickle Cell Day today on Thursday, June 19 in Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh. This event will be held at the sports stadium of Gram Panchayat Talun. Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will be the chief guests in this. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and other ministers will also be present on this occasion. In the program, those Gram Panchayats will be honored, which have completed 100 percent screening of sickle cell in their area.

"Sickle Cell Mitra" campaign will be launched in collaboration with NCC Directorate (Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh). These friends will become a bridge of awareness and cooperation between youth and service providers. On this occasion, innovations like genetic counseling awareness videos, special guidelines and modules for pregnant women will be launched. Special counseling camps will be organized in 33 sickle cell affected districts. Information on genetic information, disease management, investigation and treatment will be given in these camps. Patients will be screened and examined from villages to district hospitals.
