Madhya Pradesh has secured the top position in the country in the auction of mineral blocks. Reforms like transparent auction, environment-friendly mining and participation of local communities have rapidly increased the confidence of investors towards Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals worth more than Rs 20 thousand crore in the Mining Conclave organized in Bhopal on 17-18 October 2024. In the financial year 2022-23, the state successfully auctioned 29 mineral blocks for which the Government of India awarded Madhya Pradesh the first and second prizes in the conference of Mining Ministers in the years 2022 and 2025.
Not only this, recently Madhya Pradesh got the distinction of becoming the first state to implement the policy of the Central Government by starting the auction of critical minerals. So far, Madhya Pradesh has auctioned a total of 103 mineral blocks, which is likely to generate revenue of more than Rs 1.68 lakh crore in future. Similarly, a total of five gold blocks have been auctioned in Singrauli and Katni districts, which have 7.87 million tonnes of ore reserves. There is also large availability of gold in Sihora areas of Jabalpur and Sleemanabad areas of Katni.
Mine of mineral wealth is present in MP
There is a huge treasure of mineral resources in Madhya Pradesh. It is the only state in the country where diamonds are produced. Notably, the Majhgawan mine in Panna district produces one lakh carats of diamonds annually. Apart from this, the Bandar diamond block in Chhatarpur has an estimated reserve of 34.2 million carats of diamonds. Madhya Pradesh is also a leader in the production of copper where the Malajkhand copper mine is India's largest copper mine and 70% of the country's total copper reserves come from here. Madhya Pradesh also ranks top in the country in minerals like manganese, rock phosphate, limestone and coal.
Recently gold has been discovered in Jabalpur and Katni districts, while huge reserves of diamonds have been certified in Panna and Chhatarpur. Mineral funds are also being used for social development in Madhya Pradesh. Through the District Mineral Department, 16,452 projects have been approved in areas such as education, health, drinking water, women and child welfare, sanitation and skill development, out of which 7,583 have been completed. These projects have played an important role in improving the living standards of local communities.
Economic growth and employment generation through sustainable development in mining sector
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh has promoted sustainable development in the mining sector. In the financial year 2024-25, the state registered a growth of 23% in mineral revenue, which crossed Rs 10,000 crore for the first time, while last year this figure was Rs 4,958 crore. Which is likely to create new employment opportunities. Transparent auction process, environment-friendly mining and participation of local communities have increased the confidence of investors.
The confluence of investment, industrial development and employment will be seen in Katni Conclave

The mining conference to be held in Katni on 23 August 2025 will focus on industrial development, where there will be discussions on promoting mineral-based industries. The mining sector was also given prominence in the Global Investors Summit 2025, in which a target has been set to increase the mineral revenue from Rs 11,000 crore to Rs 55,000 crore in the next five years.
