New Air Route Launched Between Datia and Khajuraho: Seven Passengers on Inaugural Flight
Datia/Khajuraho
a new regional air service was officially launched between Datia and Khajuraho, marking a fresh milestone in local connectivity. On the inaugural day, seven passengers boarded flights to and from Khajuraho Airport, signaling cautious yet promising beginnings for the new route.
Flight to Operate Four Days a Week via Datia
According to Santosh Singh, Director of Khajuraho Airport, the service has been introduced as a replacement for the discontinued Bhopal-Rewa-Khajuraho route, which ceased operations in the last week of March. The newly launched 19-seater aircraft will operate between Bhopal and Khajuraho via Datia four days a week—Monday through Thursday.
Delhi and Varanasi Flights on the Horizon
Currently, there are no direct flights operating between Delhi or Varanasi and Khajuraho. However, with the tourist season approaching, direct air connectivity from Delhi may commence as early as October, with bookings for that route already underway. Demand for flights from Varanasi is also reportedly increasing.
'From Slippers to Skies' Dream Taking Flight
Welcoming the new air route, Rajnagar MLA Arvind Pateriya said the service reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making air travel accessible to even the common man—“those who wear slippers should also be able to fly.” He noted that affordable regional flights are significantly benefiting residents of smaller towns.
Pateriya also emphasized that Khajuraho Airport is equipped with modern facilities, and there is growing optimism for expanded air connectivity in the near future, linking Bundelkhand to more major cities.
