Nurses Accused of Illegal ₹5,000 Recovery in Govt Hospital Delivery Case

A complaint on the CM Helpline exposed illegal recovery of ₹5,000 and alleged wrong treatment by nurses during delivery in a government hospital. Officials have swung into action following the allegations.
The illegal collection of money in the name of delivery in the maternity ward of Gwalior District Hospital of Madhya Pradesh is not stopping. A pregnant woman admitted here has complained against the nurses for demanding Rs 5000, and has also accused them of wrong treatment during delivery. The matter has also been complained to the CM helpline.
When the money was not given, they inflicted a big wound
Manisha Sharma, a resident of Ghasmandi of Murar, was admitted here for delivery on 13 August. Before the delivery, the nurses and staff of the hospital demanded Rs 5000 from her. When the family did not give the money, Manisha was inflicted a big wound during the delivery. Manisha says that the staff and nurses here extort money from pregnant women.
The victim appealed to the CM for action
Pregnant women from nearby areas come to the maternity ward for delivery. The attendants say that here nurses and staff extort 2 to 5 thousand rupees in lieu of the delivery of pregnant women. Money is collected from the family of pregnant women before their delivery. Woman Rachna has requested CM to take action in this matter.
Officials came into action after complaint
When the victim admitted in the hospital complained to CM helpline, the officials of district hospital Murar came into action. Civil surgeon Dr. Rakesh Sharma has formed a committee to investigate the matter. 4 class-1 doctors-officers have been made members of the investigation committee, the civil surgeon said that action will be taken against the culprits in this case on the basis of the investigation report of the committee. According to the civil surgeon, six people have been suspended in the district hospital in the last 2 years in the case of bribery and extortion.
This is not the first case of extortion in the maternity home of the district hospital. Dozens of complaints have been made every year. Within one and a half years, 6 people have been suspended here. This time the matter has reached the CM. It remains to be seen whether any concrete action is taken, so that illegal extortion from pregnant women stops?
