The Supreme Court has directed a re-investigation into the rape case filed against Hemant Katare. The allegations were made by a journalism student, reviving a high-profile controversy.
Troubles may increase for Congress MLA from Ater Assembly of Bhind and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Hemant Katare. The investigation of the rape allegation case leveled by a journalism student in 2018 is going to start once again.
This investigation will be done again under the supervision of DIG Bhopal Range. Hearing the special leave petition of the state government, the Supreme Court has ordered a re-investigation.
The case dates back to 2018, when a journalism student living in Bhopal accused Hemant Katare of rape. After this, an FIR was also registered on the complaint of the victim. Hemant Katare called it a political conspiracy and lodged an FIR for blackmailing.
When the matter reached the doorstep of the High Court, he was given interim relief from arrest by the High Court and was directed to cooperate in the investigation. This interim order of the High Court was challenged by the state government in the Supreme Court. In such a situation, the Supreme Court has ordered a re-investigation of the case after the hearing. The state government will have to submit its reply to the Supreme Court within 4 weeks.
