Strong Rain System Batters Madhya Pradesh: Flood Alert in 16 Districts

A powerful rain system is currently active in Madhya Pradesh, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a flood alert for 16 districts. Authorities are on high alert as rivers swell and low-lying areas face the risk of inundation.

The weather has changed again in Madhya Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in many cities of the state today. A red alert has been issued for heavy rain in Datia, Bhind and Morena, while there is an orange alert in Rajgarh, Mandsaur and Shivpuri. Chhatarpur district recorded the highest rainfall yesterday, where Khajuraho received 6 inches of rain, Satna 5.7 inches and Naugaon 5.2 inches of rain. Rewa recorded 2.3 inches and Gwalior 1.8 inches of rain.

According to the Meteorological Department, a strong system of rain remains in the state due to active trough line and depression. Today, there is an alert of heavy rain in 14 districts including Gwalior, Morena, Sheopur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Dindori and Anuppur.

There is a possibility of up to 4.5 inches of rain in these areas in the next 24 hours. Due to continuous rain, there is a threat of flood in 16 districts like Gwalior, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Katni, Panna, Sagar, Satna, Tikamgarh, Ashoknagar, Datia, Guna, Morena, Rajgarh, Sheopur, Shivpuri and Vidisha. The weather center estimates that monsoon activities may weaken from tomorrow, but till then it is important to remain alert.
