Former BJP Leader Administers Oath Against 'Love Jihad' at Ravan Dahan Programme
Telangana MLA T Raja Singh made controversial statements during a Vijayadashami celebration in Indore, calling upon citizens to make Madhya Pradesh free from alleged "Love Jihad" threats. The former BJP legislator, who resigned from the party in June 2025, administered an oath to attendees at the Ravan Dahan programme in the cantonment area, urging them to protect their families, religion, and nation.
During his address at the event, Raja Singh claimed that modern-day "Ravana" takes the form of those who engage in religious conversion or promote drug abuse. He specifically targeted areas like Azad Nagar in Indore, alleging incidents of what he termed "Love Jihad". The MLA accused certain individuals of deceiving Hindu women by concealing their religious identity before attempting conversions.
Oath Ceremony and Market Support
Using a mobile torch, Singh administered a four-point oath to the gathering, which included commitments to protect family, religion, and country, make Madhya Pradesh free from "Love Jihad," ensure the safety of Hindu women from alleged conversion attempts, and support only Hindu-owned businesses. The oath ceremony received backing from his audience, who pledged to uphold these commitments as lifelong responsibilities.
Singh praised traders in Sitlamata Market, Indore, for displaying "Jihadi-Free Market" banners. This reference comes amid recent controversy in the historic market, where over 50 Muslim employees reportedly lost their jobs following directives from local BJP leader Eklavya Singh Gaur. The market, which has approximately 500 shops, witnessed the displacement of numerous Muslim workers and traders after the ruling party leader's ultimatum.
RSS Praise and Political Criticism
The former legislator commended the RSS for its role in youth development, comparing their work to historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji and Ahilya Bai. He emphasized the organization's disaster relief efforts and its non-discriminatory approach to helping people during natural calamities.
Singh also criticized some BJP MLAs, claiming they avoid speaking against alleged "Love Jihad" due to electoral concerns. He warned about demographic changes and suggested that current population trends could threaten Hindu traditions in the future.
Background and Current Status
T Raja Singh, who served as MLA from Telangana's Goshamahal constituency from 2014 to 2025, has 105 criminal cases registered against him, including 18 related to communal offences. He resigned from the BJP in June 2025, citing dissatisfaction with the party's leadership decisions in Telangana. Despite leaving the party, Singh stated his continued commitment to "Hindutva ideology" and serving the Hindu community.
The event in Indore represents Singh's ongoing political activities across various states, as he recently announced plans to quit electoral politics after his current term ends, focusing instead on promoting what he describes as Hindu protection initiatives.
