On Shanichari Amavasya, thousands of devotees gathered at Omkareshwar to take a sacred bath in the Narmada River and visit the Mamleshwar Jyotirling Mahadev temple, seeking blessings and spiritual solace.
On the occasion of Amavasya Tithi which fell on Saturday, a wonderful confluence of faith and devotion was seen in Omkareshwar. From the morning itself, a crowd of devotees gathered on the holy banks of Maa Narmada. A large number of devotees took a holy dip in the holy Narmada water and earned virtue by visiting Lord Omkareshwar Mamleshwar Jyotirling Mahadev.
Chants of “Har Har Mahadev” kept resonating in the entire area
It was particularly noteworthy that this time the festival of Amavasya fell on Saturday, increasing its importance even more. It is believed that on Shanichari Amavasya, bathing in Narmada and worshipping Shiva gives special results and removes Pitra Dosh, Saturn related problems and obstacles in life. For this reason, thousands of devotees reached here from far and wide and chants of “Har Har Mahadev” kept resonating in the entire area.
Rain also had no effect on the devotees
Although it rained heavily intermittently, it did not have any effect on the crowd of devotees. People stood in queues to have darshan of the Lord even while getting drenched on the Narmada Ghats. Devotees said that no matter how much it rains, it has no importance in front of faith and devotion.
Saints and sages also performed special worship
The area from the banks of the Narmada to the Omkar mountain was drenched in a devotional atmosphere. Saints and sages also performed special worship. Police and administration were deployed for security and order at the temple premises and the Ghats. This flood of faith on Shanichari Amavasya once again proved that even difficult situations fade away when faced with devotion and faith.
