IPS Officers Bhasin and Sanghi Receive Major Relief as High Court Cancels DGP's Investigation Order

IPS Navneet Bhasin and Amit Sanghi have got a big relief from the High Court. In the case of Suresh Rawat committing suicide by hanging himself in Belgadha police station, a single bench had ordered the DGP to investigate against these officers. Accepting the appeal against the order given in November 2022, the division bench headed by Justice Anand Pathak quashed the order against the police officers.

In August 2019, Suresh Rawat committed suicide by hanging himself in Belgadha police station. The deceased's son Ashok Rawat filed a petition regarding the matter, on which the High Court handed over the responsibility of investigation to the CBI. Along with this, the DGP of MP was directed to investigate the role of Navneet Bhasin and Amit Sanghi, who were SPs of Gwalior.

In the appeal against the order, the court was told that the then SP Navneet Bhasin had written a letter to the senior officer the very next day of the incident. The allegations of influencing the investigation in any way or being negligent are baseless. Both the IPS were not given an opportunity to be heard.
