Sendhwa (MP)
Tractor-bike collision in Palasud kills a young couple and leaves their 2-year-old daughter critically injured. Police begin investigation into the accident.
A tragic tractor-bike collision in the Palasud area of Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district has resulted in the death of a young couple and left their two-year-old daughter battling for life. The incident occurred late Saturday evening near Jalakheda village when an uncontrolled tractor rammed into a motorcycle carrying the family. Authorities confirmed that the victims were returning home after attending a family function when the fatal crash took place.
The tractor-bike collision has once again raised concerns over road safety on rural stretches where heavy vehicles and two-wheelers often share narrow, poorly lit roads.
Late-Night Road Tragedy
According to preliminary information, the accident took place between 9 pm and 10 pm under the jurisdiction of Palasud police station, around 25 km from Sendhwa. The motorcycle was being ridden by 26-year-old Aisaram and his wife Lalita, 24, with their two-year-old daughter Akshita seated between them.
The tractor-bike collision occurred when a speeding tractor, reportedly out of control, struck the motorcycle head-on. The impact was severe enough to throw all three occupants onto the road.
Victims Identified
Police have identified the deceased as Aisaram, a resident of Vedpuri village, and his wife Lalita. Both sustained critical injuries in the tractor-bike collision and succumbed before receiving advanced treatment.
Their daughter Akshita survived the crash but suffered serious injuries. She was initially rushed to the Community Health Centre in Palasud before being referred to the district hospital due to her critical condition.
Medical Emergency Response
Medical Officer Dr Shyam Prajapati at Palasud CHC confirmed that the victims were brought in by 108 ambulance service. Despite immediate examination, both adults were declared dead on arrival.
“The child’s condition was unstable, and she has been referred to the district hospital for specialised treatment,” he said, adding that the tractor-bike collision victims required urgent trauma care due to multiple injuries.
Police Begin Investigation
Following the tractor-bike collision, Palasud police reached the spot and initiated a preliminary investigation. Officers conducted a panchnama and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination scheduled for Sunday.
Police officials indicated that efforts are underway to trace the tractor driver, who reportedly fled the scene after the accident. Statements from eyewitnesses are being recorded as part of the investigation.
Shock in Local Villages
The tragedy has cast a shadow of grief over Jalakheda and Vedpuri villages. A large number of relatives and villagers gathered at the health centre after news of the tractor-bike collision spread.
Local residents described the family as peaceful and hardworking, expressing shock over the sudden loss. The accident has reignited concerns over reckless driving and lack of traffic regulation in rural regions.
Road Safety Concerns Raised
The tractor-bike collision highlights ongoing safety challenges on rural roads where heavy agricultural vehicles frequently operate without proper lighting or speed control. Experts stress the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and better awareness among drivers.
Authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the accident as part of broader road safety monitoring in the region.
