Fatal Accident on Parsawada Road
A tractor-trolley laden with iron goods overturned on the Parsawada road in Piparia town of Narmadapuram district late Sunday night, killing an 18-year-old youth on the spot and leaving the driver with a fractured leg. The accident occurred near Parsawada village while the vehicle was travelling from Sandia towards Surela.
The impact was severe enough to trap both occupants beneath the overturned tractor. Police reaching the scene found them pinned under the wreckage and launched a rescue operation with the help of local villagers.
Two Tractors Used in Rescue
Sandia chowki in-charge Kishan Uike said the vehicle lost control and capsized suddenly, with both the youth and the driver getting crushed underneath. The weight of the iron-loaded trolley made extraction extremely difficult.
According to officials, rescuers had to press two additional tractors into service to upright the overturned vehicle and pull the trapped individuals free. It took considerable effort before both were brought out and rushed to Piparia government hospital.
Teen Declared Dead at Hospital
At the hospital, doctor Sayed examined the injured and declared 18-year-old Nihal Patel, son of Kashiram, dead. The driver, identified as Ghanshyam Kewat, sustained a fracture in his leg. Initial treatment has been administered and his condition is stated to be stable at present.
Only Son of Grieving Parents
Family members said Nihal was the only son of his father Kashiram, making the loss all the more devastating. The family has been inconsolable since news of the accident reached them Sunday night. Neighbours and relatives gathered at the home through the night as the family came to terms with the tragedy.
Police Register Accidental Death Case
Sandia chowki police have registered a marg (accidental death) case and begun an inquiry into the exact circumstances that led to the vehicle overturning. Whether overspeeding, mechanical failure, or an uneven road surface caused the accident is being examined.
The postmortem was scheduled for Monday, after which the body would be handed over to the family for last rites.
Road Safety Concern Again
The Parsawada road stretch has seen accidents before, and Sunday's incident has renewed concerns among residents about the condition of rural roads in the area and the safety of heavily loaded commercial vehicles travelling through at night. Locals say poor lighting and road conditions often contribute to such mishaps, though no official statement on road conditions was immediately available.
