Digital Desk
A horrific road accident occurred near Balsamud on the Indore Road in Khargone district early Thursday morning, when two mini trucks collided head-on, killing both drivers on the spot. The crash, which took place around 6:30 a.m. in front of a petrol pump, was so severe that the cabins of both vehicles were crushed nearly one and a half feet inward, trapping the drivers inside.
Seven others sustained minor injuries in the collision and were admitted to nearby hospitals. Traffic on the route remained disrupted for some time following the accident.
Trucks Were Carrying Fertilizer and Vegetables
One of the deceased drivers was identified as Dinesh Bhalse (42), son of Chetaram Bhalse, a resident of Jirbhar village. He was returning from a poultry farm in Dharampuri, Dhar district, after collecting fertilizer.
The other vehicle, a vegetable-laden pickup heading toward Indore, remains unidentified as police continue efforts to confirm the second driver’s identity by informing nearby stations.
Rescue Operation with JCB and Gas Cutter
Local residents, including Saifuddin Khan and Javed Khan, were first to arrive at the scene and alerted police. Rescue operations lasted nearly an hour, with teams using a JCB and gas cutter to retrieve the trapped bodies from the mangled cabins. The bodies were later sent to Kasrawad hospital for post-mortem.
Speeding Likely Cause of the Crash
According to preliminary police findings, both vehicles were speeding while turning at the curve, leading to the loss of control and fatal impact. Kasrawad police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident.
Following the tragedy, local residents have demanded installation of warning signs and speed breakers at the accident-prone curve on Indore Road to prevent such incidents in the future.
