The NEET solver racket investigation in Bihar has led to the arrest of two final-year MBBS students over alleged impersonation and examination irregularities.

The Bihar Police Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has arrested two final-year MBBS students in connection with an alleged NEET solver racket involving impersonation at examination centres, according to officials cited in a newspaper report.

The two accused, identified as Ujjwal Raj of East Champaran and Ravishankar alias Samrat of Patna, were arrested in separate incidents in Patna on August 11 and 12.

Both students study at Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences in Pawapuri, Nalanda. Police are investigating their alleged involvement in attempts to appear for other candidates during medical entrance examinations.

Two Students Arrested

According to the report, Ujjwal Raj was arrested outside an examination centre in Patna on August 11. Police allegedly found him at the centre in connection with a supplementary examination.

Ravishankar alias Samrat was arrested outside the same examination centre the following day. The EOU has linked both arrests to its wider investigation into examination-related fraud.

The investigation covers irregularities connected with the NEET examination held on May 3 and a retest conducted on June 21.

EOU Finds Organised Network

The EOU investigation has reportedly uncovered a well-organised network that allegedly arranged “solvers” to appear for candidates in exchange for large sums of money.

According to officials quoted in the report, the network allegedly used biometric manipulation and forged documents to facilitate impersonation at examination centres.

The alleged fee for arranging a solver ranged between ₹12 lakh and ₹30 lakh per student, the report said.

The allegations have not been established in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Four Cases Registered

Police have registered four cases in connection with the examination irregularities, according to the report.

One case has been registered in Nalanda, while three cases have been registered in Lakhisarai. Investigators are examining the alleged links between the accused and other people involved in the suspected examination network.

The probe could also determine whether additional candidates, impersonators or intermediaries participated in the alleged arrangements.

Samrat Faces Other Allegations

The investigation has also brought earlier cases involving Ravishankar alias Samrat under scrutiny.

According to the newspaper report, Samrat is an accused in a railway Group D recruitment examination fraud case registered in Deeg, Rajasthan. Police said he is currently out on bail in that matter.

Investigators have also allegedly linked him to the Lakhisarai NEET retest case, where police suspect he played a key role in the operation.

Ujjwal Linked To Earlier Case

Ujjwal Raj also allegedly faces a previous case registered in Katihar.

Police reportedly accused him of arranging around seven fake solvers during NEET-UG 2024. The report said he is out on anticipatory bail in that case.

The latest arrest has therefore added another layer to an investigation that appears to involve multiple examination centres and alleged impersonation arrangements.

Exam Security Under Watch

The case highlights the challenges faced by authorities in protecting high-stakes competitive examinations from impersonation, forged documentation and attempts to manipulate identity verification systems.

NEET-UG attracts a large number of medical aspirants each year, making examination security and candidate verification critical to maintaining confidence in the admission process.
