If possible, you should definitely take some Dakshina in your hand. After tying Kalava, this Dakshina should be given to Pandit ji. Along with this, there should be a handkerchief on the head while tying Kalava or you can keep your other hand on the head.
How many times should it be wrapped
A question that often arises is how many times should Kalava be wrapped around the hand? Remember that Kalava should always be wrapped around the wrist an odd number of times like 3, 5 or 7 times. It brings good luck to the house and happiness and prosperity always increases. Kalava should never be wrapped an even number of times like 2, 4 or 6 times.
