Sawan 2025: Only Offer These Flowers to Lord Shiva

The month of Sawan is considered very auspicious and important for the worship of Lord Shiva. This holy festival has started from today.

These 5 flowers are not suitable for offering on Shivling (Sawan 2025)

1. Ketaki flower: According to the scriptures, offering Ketaki flower on Shivling is prohibited because it supported the lie of Brahma ji. For this reason Lord Shiva prohibited it in his worship.

2. Tulsi leaves: Tulsi Mata is considered to be the favorite of Lord Vishnu, so offering Tulsi leaves on Shivlinga is forbidden.

3. Champa flower: Champa may smell fragrant, but its petals contain microscopic germs. Hence it is considered impure and is prohibited in Shiva worship.

4. Palash flower: Palash is a symbol of fire element and is considered to be opposite to the cool nature of Shiva. Hence it is not offered on Shivlinga.

5. Nagkesar flower: Although this flower is used in the worship of other gods, offering it on Shivlinga is prohibited.

Flowers that are very dear to Lord Shiva (Sawan 2025)

1. Dhatura: This poisonous flower is a symbol of Shiva's Tandava and destructive form and is very dear to him.

2. Aak/Akoda flower: This flower is very dear to Shiva. Offering it in the month of Sawan gives special fruits.

3. Belpatra: Belpatra, the symbol of Tridev, is very dear to Shiva. They are offered with water.

4. Kusha flowers: Kusha flowers, considered sacred from religious point of view, are useful in Shiva worship.

5. Blue flowers (Neelkamal/Aparajita): Shiva is very fond of blue flowers like Neelkamal and Aparajita.
