Why Offer Puja Items with the Right Hand?
Religion
In Hindu rituals, offerings are traditionally made with the right hand. According to scriptures, the right hand symbolizes purity, action, and divine energy. Using it shows respect and maintains sanctity during worship, aligning with long-standing Vedic traditions..
We offer material in worship every day, but have you ever wondered why it is forbidden to offer with the left hand? This is not just a tradition, but a deeply thought-out tradition related to scriptures, mentality and social behavior. Let us know the reasons behind this - from religious, mental and social point of view.
The right hand is considered auspicious in the Sanatan tradition.
The right hand is used only for offering water, flowers, lamps, offerings etc. to the gods. It is also called the "karma hand", that is, this hand is considered especially suitable for good deeds and virtuous acts.
There are clear instructions in the scriptures that any holy object - be it Tulsi leaves, lamp or prasad - should be offered only with the right hand. This maintains the feeling of reverence, dignity and purity.
However, if a person is born with a left hand or has some kind of physical disability, then emotions and faith take priority.
The gods accept our emotions, but traditions teach us discipline and restraint.
