In an era where Hindi films often rely on volume and visual excess to make an impact, Rahu Ketu opts for a quieter, more relaxed approach. Driven by the familiar chemistry of Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma, the film leans into situational comedy, friendship and a gentle dose of mythology, resulting in a watch that stays breezy, engaging and comfortably entertaining.

Story

The narrative unfolds in a small Himachal Pradesh town and centres on Churu Lal Sharma (Manu Rishi Chadha), a writer stuck in a prolonged creative slump and dissatisfied with his everyday life. His dull routine takes an unusual turn with the arrival of the quirky Phuphaji (Piyush Mishra), a man who carries a strange book with the power to turn written thoughts into reality.

Out of this book emerge Rahu and Ketu, two unusual yet instantly likeable figures whose presence brings disorder wherever they land. Branded as bearers of misfortune by the locals, the pair remain unaware of the havoc around them. Running alongside their track is Meenu’s (Shalini Pandey) story, whose hidden association with the unpredictable local tough Mordekhai (Chunky Pandey) adds layers of conflict and humour to the plot.

Performances

What truly holds Rahu Ketu together is the effortless on-screen understanding between Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma. Varun Sharma once again plays to his strengths with sharp expressions and comic rhythm as Rahu, while Pulkit Samrat counters him with a measured, reaction-based performance as Ketu. Their exchanges form the film’s most engaging stretches.

Shalini Pandey brings poise and warmth to Meenu, grounding the chaos with emotional clarity. Piyush Mishra stands out as Phuphaji, infusing the role with eccentric charm and understated humour. The supporting cast—Chunky Pandey, Amit Sial, Manu Rishi Chadha and Sumit Gulati—adds depth and colour, keeping the narrative lively.

Direction

Writer-director Vipul Vig displays firm control over the ensemble and tonal balance. The humour is situational rather than punchline-driven, allowing scenes to unfold organically. While the pacing slackens in places, the strength of the characters ensures sustained viewer interest.

Himachal Pradesh is filmed with a grounded visual sensibility, allowing the location to merge naturally with the storytelling. The music and background score remain energetic yet restrained, enhancing the film’s mood without overpowering it.

Final Verdict

Rahu Ketu works as a light, cheerful entertainer backed by solid performances, character-led humour and a subtle mythological flavour. A crisper runtime could have sharpened its impact, but the film stays true to its promise of uncomplicated fun. Powered by the Pulkit–Varun pairing and a confident narrative tone, Rahu Ketu proves to be a pleasant big-screen experience.
