Pankaj Tripathi Breaks Silence on Brother’s Axe Attack, Says ‘We Are Not Afraid’

Actor Pankaj Tripathi has spoken publicly for the first time about the recent axe attack on his elder brother, Vijendra Nath Tiwari, saying the incident was deeply upsetting but that his family has complete faith in the justice system and refuses to live in fear.

In an interview with The Times of India, Tripathi said the attack had affected him personally because of his close bond with his family. However, he maintained that his family had never wronged anyone and therefore had no reason to be intimidated.

“My family means everything to me. We speak at least once every day. The incident did affect me, but I have full faith in the judicial system. We are not people who live in fear,” the actor said.

He added that the family believes it has always lived honestly. “We have never done anything wrong to anyone, so why should we be afraid? It was an unfortunate incident, nothing more. Such events are a part of life,” Tripathi said.

The actor’s remarks come weeks after his brother was seriously injured in an alleged assault in Bihar’s Gopalganj district.

According to police, the attack took place in June in Belsand village under Barauli police station limits. Vijendra Nath Tiwari was reportedly sitting outside his residence in the evening when two men allegedly attacked him with an axe, leaving him critically injured.

Family members and local residents rushed him to the district hospital, where he received emergency treatment. Doctors later referred him to AIIMS Patna for advanced medical care after assessing the seriousness of his injuries.

The incident triggered a police investigation, which, according to officials, pointed to a long-running land dispute between the victim and the accused. Investigators said the alleged assault appeared to be linked to the property disagreement.

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case, and legal proceedings are underway. Authorities have not indicated any connection between the attack and Pankaj Tripathi's professional life.

Tripathi, known for maintaining a low public profile, has largely stayed away from commenting on the matter since the incident. His latest remarks suggest that while the attack was emotionally difficult for the family, they remain confident that the legal process will take its course.

On the professional front, the actor continues to stay busy with multiple projects. He was last seen in Krishna Avataram earlier this year and is preparing for the release of the Mirzapur feature film, scheduled to hit theatres on September 5.

Tripathi is also set to appear in the upcoming films Parivarik Manoranjan and Oh My Dog. In addition to his screen projects, the actor has revealed plans to launch his own YouTube channel, offering audiences a new platform to engage with his work and personal insights.

The National Award-winning actor is also preparing to return to theatre after a gap of nearly 12 years, marking another significant milestone in his career.

While the investigation into the attack on his brother continues, Tripathi has made it clear that his family intends to face the situation with resilience rather than fear, placing its trust in the law to deliver justice.
