Shilpa Shetty Denies Rule Violation Claims Against Bastian Pub, Calls Allegations Baseless

Actor and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty on Wednesday rejected allegations of regulatory violations against Bastian Garden City, a Bengaluru pub she co-owns, calling the claims “baseless” and misleading. Her response came a day after Bengaluru Police registered a case against the establishment for allegedly operating beyond permitted hours.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Shetty said the matter was being “unnecessarily projected as a criminal issue” and clarified that the pub has challenged the allegations before the High Court. “A petition seeking to quash the case is already under judicial consideration,” she said, adding that she and her business partners are fully cooperating with authorities and have faith in the legal process.

Bengaluru Police booked Bastian Garden City, along with another pub on Residency Road, Sourberry, for alleged violations of licensing and operating hour norms. Officials said inspections were carried out following complaints, after which cases were registered under relevant sections of local laws. Further investigation is underway.

Shetty also appealed to the media to avoid speculative reporting, noting that the matter is sub judice. “I urge responsible coverage and restraint until the court examines the facts,” her statement read.

Separately, legal scrutiny has intensified for Shetty and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, in Mumbai. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has added a cheating charge under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code to an existing fraud case linked to Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a company associated with the couple.

The FIR was filed by Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari, who has alleged a ₹60 crore fraud, claiming funds invested in the company were diverted for personal use. Investigators said the new charge was added after a preliminary assessment of financial documents and statements.

While the two cases are unrelated and being probed by different agencies in separate jurisdictions, both developments have placed Shetty’s business interests under heightened scrutiny. Authorities in Bengaluru and Mumbai said the investigations will proceed in accordance with law, with further action dependent on evidence and court directions.
