Azim Premji Scholarship 2026 Opens: Girl Students Can Receive ₹30,000 Every Year—Check Eligibility and Last Date

Applications are open from August 10 to 31 for eligible first-year college students, including girls who completed Classes 10 and 12 at government institutions in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Applications for the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026–27 opened on Monday, offering eligible girl students annual financial assistance of ₹30,000 for the full duration of their first undergraduate degree or diploma.

The first application round will remain open from August 10 to August 31, 2026. The scholarship can support courses lasting two to five years, taking the maximum assistance to ₹1.5 lakh for a five-year programme.

The money may be used for tuition fees or other out-of-pocket expenses connected with completing college education. The Azim Premji Foundation says the scholarship is not awarded on the basis of marks, caste, income or religion. There is also no age limit, but applicants must satisfy the education and admission conditions.

Who Can Apply for the 2026–27 Scholarship?

An applicant must be a girl student who:

  • Passed both Class 10 and Class 12 as a regular student from a government school or college in one of the eligible states or Union Territories.

  • Has taken admission in the first year of a recognised undergraduate degree or diploma for the 2026–27 academic session.

  • Is studying as a regular student in a course lasting two to five years at a government college or a credible private college or university anywhere in India.

  • Is pursuing her first undergraduate degree or diploma after Class 12.

Students enrolled through distance-learning mode are not eligible. Those admitted to an Azim Premji University programme, or those who are or have been recipients of a Wipro scholarship such as the Santoor Scholarship, are also excluded under the Foundation’s published criteria.

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Students Are Eligible

The 2026–27 scholarship covers 20 states and Delhi (NCT). The eligible regions are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

This makes the application directly relevant to eligible government-school students in both Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The applicant may take college admission anywhere in India, provided the institution and course meet the stated conditions.

Documents Required

Applicants should prepare digital copies of:

  • A recent 2x2-inch colour passport photograph.

  • The front side of the Aadhaar card.

  • The first page of an active bank-account passbook, or a recent bank statement containing the required account and branch details.

  • Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets.

  • College admission proof, either a bona fide certificate or tuition-fee receipt containing the student, college, course and academic-session details.

The Foundation says accepted uploads must be in PDF, PNG or JPG format and between 30 KB and 500 KB. Applicants should use clear, unedited and readable documents.

Is There an Application Fee?

No. The application is free, and the Foundation has warned students against people seeking money in its name. Applications must be submitted through the official scholarship portal.

Students needing support may use the help options provided on the Foundation’s website, including its official WhatsApp assistance service during working hours.

Why This Scholarship Matters

The scholarship has expanded rapidly since its pilot phase. The Foundation says it has supported 1.95 lakh girls so far and intends eventually to award the scholarship to five lakh girls every year.

For eligible students entering college in 2026–27, the immediate step is to check the conditions, gather the required documents and apply before August 31 rather than waiting until the final days of the registration window.
