India Strongly Condemns Attack on Maa Durga Temple in Bangladesh

Extremists in Bangladesh have destroyed a Maa Durga temple, sparking outrage across the region. India has issued a stern reprimand to the Yunus government, urging immediate action against the perpetrators and stronger protection for religious minorities.

 
 

Attacks by extremists on Hindu temples continue in Bangladesh. In the latest case, extremists attacked and demolished the temple of Maa Durga in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. India has reprimanded the interim government of Bangladesh (Yunus government) for this.

The Indian Foreign Ministry has criticized the vandalism in the temple and held the Bangladesh government responsible for it. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that it is the responsibility of the interim government of Bangladesh to protect Hindus as well as religious institutions.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also said that India is ready to negotiate with Bangladesh on 'all matters' in an environment that is conducive to mutually beneficial talks. His remarks came on a question asked about the possible renewal of the Ganges Water Treaty with Bangladesh next year. Jaiswal criticized the Bangladeshi authorities for the alleged demolition of the temple. He said, "We have come to know that extremists were demanding the demolition of the Durga temple in Khilkhet, Dhaka.
