Pakistan Claims Chinese Weapons ‘Excelled’ Against India, Spokesperson Says 7 Indian Jets Shot Down Without Losses

The Pakistani army has praised Chinese weapons. Army spokesman General Ahmad Chaudhry said in an interview to Bloomberg on Monday that these weapons worked well in the conflict against India in May.
He said-We are open to all types of technology. Chinese technology performed very well. Pakistan shot down seven Indian fighter jets, while India did not shoot down a single Pakistani aircraft.
Chaudhary also said that Pakistan does not discriminate between Chinese or Western weapons, but Chinese weapons performed well in this conflict.
81% of Pakistan's weapons come from China
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), 81% of Pakistan's weapons from 2020 to 2024 came from China. Pakistan is China's largest arms customer. The Pakistani Army also uses US F-16 fighter jets.
According to SIPRI, Pakistan's defense budget in 2024 was $10.2 billion, while India's was $86.1 billion. However, the military expenditures of both countries are roughly equal in terms of GDP. Pakistan spends 2.7% of its GDP on defense, while India spends 2.3%.
India Destroyed a Chinese Missile
Pakistan used Chinese PL-15 and HQ-9P missiles, JF-17, and J-10 jets against India during the conflict, but these were neutralised by India's indigenous weapons (such as the BrahMos and Akashteer).
On May 9th, fragments of a PL-15E missile were recovered from a field in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district. This missile was made in China. Subsequently, on May 12th, the Air Force displayed its wreckage for the first time in a press conference.
Pakistan fired a Chinese-made PL-15E missile from a JF-17 fighter jet, but it was intercepted mid-air, preventing it from reaching its target. According to reports, this is the first time the PL-15E missile has been used in a conflict.
