Putin Enjoys Indian Culinary Delights at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Receives Gifts from PM Modi

Russian President Vladimir Putin was hosted at a grand state dinner by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 5, marking the conclusion of his two-day visit to India for the 23rd India-Russia Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also presented six special gifts to the Russian leader, symbolizing India’s rich culture and longstanding friendship with Russia.

The dinner menu highlighted India’s regional culinary diversity. The evening began with South Indian Murungakkai Charu (Rasam) soup, followed by starters including Kashmiri Gucchi Doon Chetin with walnut chutney, Kala Chana Shikampuri Kebab, and vegetarian Jhol Momos. The main course featured a traditional vegetarian thali comprising Zafrani Paneer Roll and Palak-Methi-Matar Saag, accompanied by assorted breads. Desserts included Halwa, Kulfi, and Sandesh, alongside fresh fruit juices.

A classical music performance accompanied the dinner. Musicians performed Raag Amritavarshini, Khamaj, Yaman, Shivranjani, Nalinakanti, and Bhairavi, along with Russian classics such as “Kalinka” and selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.

During the dinner, Putin lauded the strengthening strategic partnership between India and Russia, emphasizing cooperation across politics, security, economy, trade, energy, and education. He also highlighted enhanced collaboration under India’s upcoming BRICS presidency in 2026, noting, “Walk together, grow together – this is the essence of our friendship.”

President Murmu described the 23rd India-Russia Summit as a symbol of 25 years of strategic partnership, rooted in peace, stability, and socio-economic and technological collaboration.
