US Launches ‘Trump Gold Card’ Offering Unlimited Residency for $1 Million

US President Donald Trump on Thursday officially launched the Trump Gold Card, a new visa and residency program designed to attract wealthy investors and highly skilled professionals. The card, priced at $1 million (around ₹8.97 crore) for individuals and $2 million for companies, provides holders with privileges similar to a Green Card, including the ability to live, work, and study anywhere in the United States.

Speaking at the launch, Trump said, “It is a great pleasure for me and the country that we have just launched the Trump Gold Card. All the money will go to the United States government. This will bring billions of dollars into the government treasury while welcoming great people to our country.”

The program, first announced in February 2025 at $5 million, was later revised to $1 million to attract broader participation. It is modeled on the EB-5 visa program, which allows foreign investors to gain permanent US residency by investing in businesses that create at least 10 jobs. Unlike traditional Green Cards, which involve extensive paperwork and long waiting periods, the Gold Card offers a faster and more streamlined path to residency and eventual citizenship.

For Indians and other foreign nationals, the card provides a notable advantage. Traditional Green Card applications can take 10–15 years, but the Gold Card simplifies the process, granting immediate residency rights and access to US work and education opportunities.

Trump also hinted at the launch of a Platinum Card, aimed at an even more exclusive group of applicants, though details and pricing have not yet been disclosed.

Experts suggest the program is likely to generate significant revenue for the US government while attracting high-net-worth individuals who can contribute to the domestic economy. The initiative has sparked discussions over immigration policy, economic strategy, and the potential impact on traditional visa programs.

The Gold Card application portal is expected to go live within hours, marking a major step in the Trump administration’s strategy to leverage investment for residency and citizenship opportunities.
