Ted Tenaglia’s Future Mission and Vision in the Healthcare Industry

With the increasing changes within the health care field, workers with both on-the-job experience and management or leadership knowledge will be needed more and more in the near future. As a member of this new generation of "Medical Leaders," Ted Tenaglia’s central objective is to help strengthen health care systems that directly support patient care. Ted has a background working as an EMT and emergency responder in addition to being an educator in previous years; therefore, he has a unique perspective and skill set on what it looks like to operate in a clinical environment.

Ted wants to further his career into Management within the Health Care Field by participating in many aspects of Health Care Organizations such as planning, quality improvement and operational strategies. He has earned a Master of Health Administration as well as specialized certifications in Healthcare Finance, Quality and Safety to provide better support to hospitals and health care organizations on how to develop and manage workflows, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and develop Financially Sustainable Operations while continuing to keep the "human aspect" of care in mind. He hopes to create Systems that enable Medical Technicians and Frontline Employees rather than restrict them.

A significant component of Ted Tenaglia’s future vision is to connect healthcare providers with their leadership and management teams through greater collaboration and teamwork within emergency medical services (EMS) and the healthcare profession as a whole. Having had extensive experience working directly in high-stress situations, Ted understands the obstacles that medical technicians, EMTs and first responders encounter daily. He intends to utilize this understanding to advocate for new policy initiatives and agency infrastructures that will positively impact how they train, communicate and allocate resources. These initiatives should improve the patient-care experience for both patients and staff while improving retention of employees in healthcare organizations.

In his opinion, healthcare systems of the future should have a commitment to accountability, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making. He plans to utilize both direct experience in providing medical care with advanced education in the administrative aspects of healthcare to assist in the development of resilient, responsive and patient safety-focused healthcare organizations through the combined efforts of the medical technicians and emergency medical service (EMS) professionals. Ted hopes to use this integrated approach to make a meaningful contribution in defining the future of EMS-driven healthcare leadership.
