Bihar SIR Row Sparks Uproar in Parliament; Lok Sabha Adjourned Till 2 PM
New Delhi
The fourth day of the Monsoon Session witnessed high drama as opposition MPs stormed the Lok Sabha well, waving placards and shouting slogans over the Bihar voter verification controversy.
As the House convened at 11 am, MPs from Congress and other opposition parties began protests, displaying posters despite repeated warnings. Speaker Om Birla rebuked the members, saying, “The House will not run if you come with placards… these are not your sanskaars.”
Amid the chaos, the proceedings lasted barely six minutes before the Speaker adjourned the House until 2 pm. In contrast, Rajya Sabha proceedings continued uninterrupted.
Meanwhile, the opposition staged a protest for the third consecutive day outside Parliament at Makar Dwar. Senior leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, joined the demonstration. Priyanka held a poster reading, “Democracy in Danger.”
