A serious case has come to light in the context of India's national security. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a CRPF jawan from Delhi, who is accused of spying for Pakistan. He has been caught in the case of sharing sensitive information with officials of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Preliminary investigation has revealed that he was doing this treasonous activity since 2023.
NIA said in a statement on Monday that the accused Moti Ram Jat was actively engaged in espionage activities. He was sharing sensitive information related to national security with Pakistan's intelligence officers (PIO) since 2023. In further investigation, NIA also found that he was receiving financial assistance from PIO through various means. NIA has arrested Moti Ram from Delhi. Further interrogation of the accused is going on. The agency produced him before a special court in Patiala House Court today, from where he has been sent to NIA custody till June 6.
According to NIA sources, the process of identifying other suspects related to this case is going on. The scope of investigation is not limited to Delhi only, but it also extends to many other states including Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA is trying to find out if members of other security forces are also involved in this network.
In April 2025, an Indian Navy personnel was arrested from Visakhapatnam, who was in contact with a Pakistani female agent on social media and was sharing confidential information. Apart from this, in March, Punjab Police caught a youth from Amritsar, who was sending pictures of army movement to Pakistan near the Indo-Pak border. Recently, many spies including Jyoti Malhotra have been arrested from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. These frequent arrests have alerted security agencies, and the government has instructed all security forces to keep an eye on suspicious activities taking place through social media and digital communication.
