Dalai Lama for Bharat Ratna? 80 MPs Back Move

In a bold step likely to irk China, 80 MPs have signed a proposal to confer Bharat Ratna on the Dalai Lama, sparking diplomatic anticipation.

Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama is in constant discussion these days. While celebrating his 90th birthday in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, Dalai Lama made a big announcement on his successor, after which a sharp reaction from China was natural. At the same time, now preparations are being made to give the country's highest honor Bharat Ratna to Dalai Lama.

According to the report of Economic Times, the All Party Forum of Indian MPs has suggested giving Bharat Ratna to Dalai Lama. Not only this, 80 MPs have also signed this proposal. It can be sent to the Prime Minister or President soon.

The All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum on Tibet, led by convener Bhartruhari Mahtab, has met the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) several times. At the same time, Rajya Sabha MP Sujit Kumar is playing an important role in this initiative.

A befitting reply to China

Responding to China's comment on the successor of the Dalai Lama, Sujit Kumar said that China has no right to choose the successor of the Dalai Lama. The forum has decided to raise the issue of Tibet on different platforms. It will also be discussed in the Parliament.

China's concern over the successor increased

Let us tell you that on July 2, the Dalai Lama, while announcing his successor, handed over this right to the Gaden Phodrang Trust, which was founded by the Dalai Lama himself. But, China objected to his decision and reacted strongly. China says that choosing the successor of the Dalai Lama is their internal matter and this decision will be taken by the Chinese government.
