Heavy Rains Flood Kolkata Roads, IMD Issues Alert

Torrential rains have thrown life out of gear in Kolkata, turning roads into ponds and disrupting daily activities. The IMD has issued a weather alert as waterlogging and traffic chaos grip the city.

It has been raining heavily in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, since this morning. Due to heavy rains, waterlogging problem is being seen in many areas of Kolkata. Especially in the southern parts of West Bengal, torrential rains have disrupted water life.

People passing through Kolkata and surrounding areas are facing many difficulties. Roads have become ponds due to waterlogging. Water has filled up to the knees due to overnight rain.

Severe waterlogging has been seen in Shyam Bazar, Ultadanga, Dhakuria, Behala, EM Bypass of Kolkata, Sector 5 of Salt Lake and some areas of Howrah city of West Bengal.

The Meteorological Department issued an alert
The Meteorological Department had predicted light rain with thunder and lightning in most parts of West Bengal. At the same time, an alert was issued for heavy rains in some places. According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Purulia and Jhargram.

Sea waves are also in full swing
Since the entry of monsoon, the sea in the Bay of Bengal is also in full swing. In such a situation, the West Bengal administration has advised fishermen to stay away from the beach. Efforts are also being made to remove water from the streets of Kolkata. However, due to heavy rains, this is not possible.
