Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers were waiting for their 20th installment that the Union Cabinet approved the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana by combining 36 schemes with an outlay of Rs 24,000 crore per year. The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana for a period of six years. The scheme will cover 100 districts with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore.

The Union Cabinet has approved the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana with an outlay of Rs 24000 crore. This scheme includes 36 schemes which will benefit 1.7 crore farmers. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced this scheme.
Under this, 100 agricultural districts will be developed. This program announced in the Union Budget will integrate 36 existing schemes and promote crop diversification and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
Sharing information about the decision taken in the Union Cabinet, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana will increase post-harvest storage capacity, improve irrigation facilities and increase agricultural productivity. This program is likely to help 1.7 crore farmers.
What is PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana?
In the Union Budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the 'PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana' to boost the agriculture sector, which has now got the approval of the Cabinet. Under this, agricultural districts will be developed. This scheme will target 100 districts with low productivity, low sowing of crops and below average loan availability.
This scheme will be implemented in a phased manner with a multi-pronged approach to modernize Indian agriculture. Under the scheme, the focus will be on crop diversification, sustainable and climate-resilient farming. Apart from this, there will also be an emphasis on increasing post-harvest storage capacity and improving technology.

The objective of PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana is to solve the problem of low employment in the agricultural sector, create rural prosperity and situation optimization for the development of rural economy through skill upgradation, investment and technology. At the same time, the six-year 'Self-Reliance Mission in Pulses' for self-sufficiency in pulses, emphasis on developing climate-friendly seeds, improving produce storage, ensuring fair price to farmers.
