‘UP Has Been Sacred Land of Ancient Knowledge and Culture’: Yogi Adityanath on Teachers’ Day

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday extended Teachers’ Day greetings to educators, highlighting the state's long tradition of knowledge, culture and learning and the role of teachers in passing that legacy to a new generation.

In a message shared on Teachers’ Day, Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has been a “sacred land of ancient knowledge and culture” and praised teachers for connecting this heritage with contemporary education.

The Chief Minister said teachers are helping shape the future of students by combining the state's knowledge tradition with modern education, technology and innovation. He also paid tribute to former President and educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day in India.

Adityanath's message came as schools and educational institutions across Uttar Pradesh marked Teachers’ Day on September 5. The day is observed nationally to recognise the contribution of teachers to education and nation-building.

In a separate Teachers’ Day programme in Gorakhpur, the Uttar Pradesh government is honouring 81 teachers from the Basic and Secondary Education departments with the State Teacher Award and Chief Minister Teacher Award. The selected teachers were recognised for dedicated teaching, innovation, school management and contributions to students' overall development.

The state-level awards include 61 teachers from the Basic Education Department and 20 from the Secondary Education Department. The programme places emphasis on encouraging innovative teaching practices and recognising educators who have made a wider contribution to school education.

Adityanath's remarks also underline the state's emphasis on linking traditional knowledge with changing educational requirements. His message comes at a time when technology and new teaching methods are increasingly becoming part of classroom learning.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, also extended Teachers’ Day greetings, stressing the importance of teachers in nurturing talent, strengthening character, embracing technology and encouraging independent thinking among students.
