Ajmer MLA Anita Bhadel Criticises Government System, Confronts Officials Over Stalled Development Work

BJP MLA Anita Bhadel from Ajmer South openly criticised government functioning during an Ajmer Development Authority (ADA) programme on Monday, stating that the “entire system has rusted” and work progresses only under persistent pressure. Her remarks came in the presence of Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani and Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra at the Makhupura Sports Ground during a programme showcasing the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Nagar housing scheme.

The event became contentious when workers noticed MLA Bhadel’s photo was missing from the poster displayed on stage. Agitated supporters raised slogans and threatened to boycott the programme. Bhadel intervened, telling the Deputy Commissioner, “We will leave; let the Minister conduct the programme. I am here because of my workers.” The matter was later resolved after discussions with the Commissioner.

During her address, Bhadel highlighted her role in the housing scheme, noting that she proposed naming it after Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and oversaw planning for the 288-plot project. She reiterated her frustration with bureaucracy, saying, “No work gets done in ADA without a push. A leader has to struggle at every level.”

Bhadel also criticised illegal encroachments, particularly dairy booths obstructing roads, and urged stricter action. She further requested the UDH Minister to appoint competent officers in his department to ensure effective governance.

Speaker Devnani acknowledged the ADA team’s efforts and emphasised timely implementation of the housing scheme. On encroachments, he stressed adherence to the law, stating, “The entire state suffers from encroachment. Action must be taken beyond notions of ‘our own’ or ‘outsider.’”

The event highlighted growing tensions between elected representatives and administrative machinery, underscoring challenges in implementing development projects and addressing public grievances in Ajmer.
