Big Relief for Ex-MP Umakant Yadav

High Court grants stay on conviction and life imprisonment, giving major relief to former MP Umakant Yadav.

The Allahabad High Court gave a big relief to former MP Umakant Yadav, who was serving a sentence in a murder case, and released him on bail. Now the court has stayed the conviction and life imprisonment sentence given to former MP Umakant Yadav by the lower court of Jaunpur in a case of murder, attempt to murder and arson till the criminal appeal is pending.

Let us tell you that former MP Umakant Yadav was serving a sentence in jail in the 4 February 1995 GRP constable murder case. A case was registered against seven accused in this case. One of the seven accused is Umakant Yadav. While in jail, Umakant Yadav contested the election from Khuthan, but he had to face defeat.

It is worth noting that Umakant Yadav contested the election from Khuthan assembly on Bahujan Samajwadi Party ticket in the 1991 assembly elections and was elected MLA. After that, in 1993, he was elected MLA from the same seat for the second time from the SP and BSP alliance. In 1996, the alliance of both the parties broke and Umakant left the elephant and rode a bicycle and was also elected MLA from there.
