BJP Considers Bringing Rupani Family Into Active Party Role in Saurashtra

In a strategic move ahead of upcoming elections in Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is reportedly planning to involve the family of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in active party affairs. National General Secretary B. L. Santhosh, Gujarat State President Jagdish Vishwakarma, and State Organisation General Secretary Ratnakar met Anjliben Rupani, widow of the late CM, to discuss her potential role in the party’s organizational structure in Saurashtra.

The meeting was held at the BJP Kamalam Office in Rajkot on Monday, from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM, in the presence of senior party leaders. It saw full attendance from Saurashtra MPs, MLAs, and veteran organizational figures including MLA Uday Kangad, Darshitaben Shah, Ramesh Tilala, and former city BJP president Kamlesh Mirani. The gathering was seen as a key step to strengthen party operations in the region, a traditional BJP stronghold.

During the session, leaders deliberated on several organizational matters including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign for voter list updates, issues faced by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and strategies to promote the Swadeshi campaign. The leadership also reviewed past programs and planned initiatives to consolidate support ahead of both assembly and municipal elections.

Reports suggest that Anjliben Rupani may be assigned a prominent role in party activities in Saurashtra, signaling the BJP’s intent to leverage her influence and Rupani’s legacy in the region. Notably, local city party president Madhav Dave was reportedly excluded from the discussions, highlighting direct involvement by the central leadership.

The Rajkot office was decorated with red flags to welcome B. L. Santhosh, who is expected to provide detailed guidance to city and district presidents, MLAs, and MPs during the session. Party sources say this initiative underscores the BJP’s focus on organizational strengthening and strategic planning as the state gears up for upcoming elections.
