BJP-RJD demand Bihar poll in 2 phases: While JDU pitches for single-day election

Bihar Assembly elections have now reached the final stage. Today, on Saturday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) holds an important meeting with all recognized political parties of the state.
According to the instructions issued by the Election Commission, this meeting took place at Hotel Taj in Patna from 10 AM to 12 noon. The meeting is chaired by CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
Meanwhile, the BJP state president said that the party has demanded that elections be conducted in two phases, as multiple phases cause inconvenience to voters and increase expenses for candidates.
The Bihar BJP has also demanded that voting be held 28 days after the election announcement.
The Commission has appealed to all nationally and state-recognized political parties to be present at the meeting. Elections in Bihar could be announced within the next three days.
For this meeting, the Election Commission has requested the presence of all nationally and state-recognized political parties.
The letter clarified that each party will be allowed to send a maximum of three representatives to attend the meeting.
On October 4 and 5, a high-level team of the Election Commission will review security arrangements, administrative preparations and all election-related work in the state.
The team will hold separate consultations with the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, heads of various central agencies as well as DMs and senior police superintendents of all districts.
In addition, there will be separate meetings with the Chief Electoral Officer and State Election Commissioner, which will focus on issues like booth management and identification of sensitive areas.
After completing the review meetings, when the Election Commission team returns to Delhi, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar can formally announce the dates for Bihar Assembly elections anytime.
As soon as the announcement is made, the Model Code of Conduct will come into effect immediately in the state.
Discussion will be held on suggestions and strategies
The meeting will discuss preparations for upcoming assembly elections, arrangements for voting centers, strengthening security, compliance with Model Code of Conduct and other matters.
The Election Commission expects political parties to provide their constructive suggestions to strengthen transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
According to a letter issued by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Amit Kumar Pandey, representatives from dozens of parties including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress, National People's Party, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Rashtriya Lok Samta Party and CPI (ML) Liberation will be present at the meeting.
