CM Hemant Soren Slams Bill, Calls It ‘Dictatorship’

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren criticized the controversial bill that could remove PMs and CMs from office, stating it undermines democracy and gives excessive power to the government.

The opposition has opened a front against the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill. Opposition parties are continuously opposing this anti-corruption bill, which has the power to take away the chair of PM or CM if they go to jail in criminal cases. They say that this law is just a dictatorship. On the other hand, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday sharply criticized the central government on the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill.

He said that the BJP-led government is taking steps to "weaken and divide" the country. Soren alleges that the talk of development and strength is limited to the speeches of BJP leaders.

Let us tell you that, in the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill, a provision has been made that if the PM, CM or the Minister of the Government of India or the Minister of the State Government is arrested on any serious charge and he does not get bail for 30 days, then he will be relieved from his post.

What did Hemant Soren say on SIR?

Soren said, "Everyone is seeing what kind of constitutional amendments are being made. Work is going on on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list and people should understand its impact."

Targeting the central government, he said that the purpose of these decisions is to weaken the democratic structure. Talking to reporters outside the assembly, the Chief Minister said that the talk of development has remained limited to political speeches only.
