A scuffle broke out among intern doctors at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Government Medical College during the Pinaka Medfest late Thursday night, escalating from a food queue dispute to physical violence outside the trauma centre.
The incident began around 11 pm when two groups argued over pushing in line and alleged abusive language. Police said some interns appeared under the influence of alcohol.
Officers arrived, conducted medical checks at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, and briefly detained three for disturbing peace.
Tensions reignited outside the trauma centre, where one intern reportedly used a stick to assault another. Videos circulating online show chaotic scenes, with female staff intervening amid accusations of verbal abuse and blows.
Subhash Nagar SHO Kailash Chandra Bishnoi confirmed the clash stemmed from the fest argument. Both sides later compromised at the station, withdrawing complaints, and the detained interns were released.
College principal Dr Varsha Singh condemned the behaviour, promising strict disciplinary action against indiscipline.
The episode has raised concerns over conduct during campus events at the Sanganer-based institution.
