Manoj Bajpayee’s fake video surfaces ahead of Bihar polls

Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee clarified on Thursday that he has no association with any political party, after a doctored video of him went viral on X (formerly Twitter). The video, which has since been deleted, falsely suggested his endorsement of a political group.
In a post on X, Bajpayee stated,
“I want to make it clear that I am not affiliated with or endorsing any political party. The circulating video is fake—it is a manipulated version of my advertisement for Prime Video.”
The actor also urged people not to spread such misleading and edited content, appealing for restraint and responsibility on social media.
According to reports, the viral clip was shared by a parody account posing as RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and the edited video appeared to show Manoj Bajpayee expressing political support.
Recently, several Bollywood personalities have turned to the courts to protect their personality and publicity rights—legal safeguards that allow individuals to control the commercial use of their image, name, or likeness.
Earlier this week, the Delhi High Court granted Hrithik Roshan protection over his personality rights and directed the removal of objectionable online posts misusing his image. The court has previously issued similar orders for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, and Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, underscoring growing concerns over digital impersonation and misuse of celebrity identities.
