At a joint rally of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Mumbai, MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday claimed he possesses a list of 4,500 fake voters who allegedly cast ballots from multiple locations, including Malabar Hill, despite being registered in Kalyan, Dombivli, Bhiwandi, and Palghar.
Addressing a packed crowd at the ‘Marathi Vijay Rally’ held at Worli Auditorium, Raj said, “I have the complete list of these fake voters.” His statement came amid mounting opposition allegations that nearly 96 lakh fake names have been inserted into the voter rolls ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Before the rally, a massive protest march began from Metro Cinema and culminated at the BMC headquarters, drawing participation from Sharad Pawar, Balasaheb Thorat, and other senior leaders.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, addressing supporters from the same stage, accused the ruling dispensation of undermining democracy. “Our party name and election symbol were stolen earlier; now, even our votes are being stolen,” he said, challenging Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to prove his allegations against the opposition.
The rally also carried a symbolic charge — it marked a rare public appearance of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray together, two decades after their last joint event. The cousins’ reunion comes against the backdrop of a deepening political crisis and growing public anger over alleged electoral manipulation.
Opposition leaders have urged the Election Commission to launch an immediate investigation and freeze election-related processes until the discrepancies are resolved. Analysts say the renewed coordination between MVA and MNS could reshape the opposition strategy in Maharashtra’s evolving political landscape
