The one whose name is a symbol of strength, devotion and valour in the entire universe is Lord Hanuman. Whose strength and intelligence have no limits, in front of whom even the gods bow down, such Bahubali Hanuman ji also had to face defeat once and this defeat was not at the hands of any ordinary warrior, but at the hands of the great Yogi Machhindranath.

Machindranath (or Matsyendranath) is considered to be the chief Siddha Guru of the Nath sect. He was the Guru of Gorakhnath. Machhindranath is considered to be the master of Ashtasiddhis, a great knower of Tantra-Vidya and Yoga.

This is how the war started!

This story is famous in the folk traditions of the Nath sect. Nath was the first Siddha of the Yogis, he had attained immense Siddhis through penance, Tantra and Yog Shakti. When he started interfering in the works of heaven and gods with his Tantric powers, the gods became worried and called Hanuman ji for help. Hanuman Ji faced Machhindranath, but this was not an ordinary battle.

It was a duel between force and tantra, power and consciousness, devotion and yoga. Machhindra Nath subdued Hanuman Ji with his yogic powers and symbolically defeated him and later Hanuman Ji apologized for his mistake. This incident teaches us that along with force, intelligence, humility and self-knowledge are also necessary and this is the true victory.
