It is important to follow certain rules while offering food to Lord Ganesha on Ganeshotsav 2025. By following these rules, one gets the full benefit of the puja and brings happiness and prosperity in life.
Ganeshotsav has started across the country from today. For these ten days, devotees will worship Bappa by establishing him in their homes and pandals. Offering bhog to Lord Ganesha is considered the most important part of this worship. But in the scriptures, some special rules related to offering bhog have been mentioned, only by following which the worship gives full results.
What to do
- Take special care of purity: Take a bath before offering bhog and wear clean clothes.
- Fresh dishes: Offer modaks, laddus, durva grass and seasonal fruits to Ganpati.
- Bhog first, then prasad: First offer bhog to God, only then the family and devotees should take prasad.
- Durva and red flowers: Offering durva grass and red flowers to Ganeshji is considered auspicious.
Devotion is important: While offering bhog, have pure feelings and chant mantras in the mind.
What not to do (Ganeshotsav 2025) - Stale food is prohibited: Never offer stale or half-cooked food to Ganpati.
- Avoid garlic and onion: Dishes made from these are not offered to God.
- Do not be greedy: Do not offer bhog just for show, but offer it with true devotion.
- Avoid open utensils: Keep the bhog covered so that it does not become impure.
