Narada Jayanti 2025: The only temple in India, where Narad Muni did penance to see Shri Krishna
Narada Muni Jayanti is being celebrated with reverence and devotion across the country today. This festival is celebrated on the Pratipada date of Krishna Paksha of Jyeshtha month. This year this date starts from 10:25 pm on May 12 and ends at 12:35 pm on May 14. Therefore, according to the rising date, Narada Jayanti is being celebrated today.
India's only Narada Muni temple (Narada Jayanti 2025)
The only temple of Devarshi Narad Muni in India is located in Gunnaur village of Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh, which is known as 'Devarshi Narad Dham'. This place is located in Kadunala forest area, about two kilometers south of Lucknow-Varanasi National Highway.
The specialty of this temple is that Narad Muni did penance at this place. An ancient Ardhanarishwar Shiva temple is also located here, near which there is a huge banyan tree.
It is said that when Hiranyakashyap's wife Kayadhu had devotee Prahlad in the womb, Narad Muni brought him to this place to save him from Indra's wrath and preached religion and devotion to him here. It is also believed that Indra's thunderbolt also became ineffective at this place.
Narada Kund, Govardhan (Mathura): Narada Kund, located near Kusum Sarovar near Govardhan mountain in Mathura, is also considered to be the place of penance of Narada Muni. Here he did penance to see Lord Krishna. This place is still an important pilgrimage site for devotees.
Narada Jayanti 2025: Worship method on Narada Jayanti
On the day of Narada Jayanti, devotees worship with the following method:
Take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
Clean the place of worship and sprinkle Gangajal in it.
Install the idol or picture of Narad Muni.
Offer incense, lamp, flowers, fruits and sweets.
Recite 'Narad Chalisa' and perform Aarti.
Finally offer bhog and distribute prasad.
