Get ready for a landmark event in women's cricket! The ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 30 in India, featuring a groundbreaking increase in prize money and a unique hosting arrangement for the Pakistan cricket team.
In a historic move for the sport, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a total prize pool of $13.88 million (approximately Rs.122 crore). This is a massive four-fold increase from the previous edition and even surpasses the prize money of the Men's ODI World Cup by a significant Rs.39 crore. The champion team will lift the trophy and a staggering winner's cheque of approximately Rs.39.50 crore.
While India is the official host nation, all of Pakistan’s group-stage matches will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, due to existing scheduling arrangements. This unique setup extends to the knockout stages; if Pakistan qualifies for the final, the match will be relocated from Navi Mumbai to Colombo.
The tournament will see eight top teams India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh compete in a round-robin format. A total of 31 matches will be played across venues in Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam, and Navi Mumbai (contingent on Pakistan's progress). The action kicks off with hosts India taking on Sri Lanka on September 30, culminating in the final on November 2.
Cricket fans in India can catch all the live action on the Star Sports Network and the JioCinema app. With unprecedented financial rewards and a competitive format, the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 promises to be a thrilling celebration of the game's best.
