Shubman Gill Tops 2025 Run Charts as India's Batting Stars Shine

India's young guns and seasoned campaigners dominated international cricket in 2025, with Shubman Gill emerging as the calendar year's leading run-scorer across formats.

The 26-year-old amassed 1764 runs in 35 matches, including seven centuries and three half-centuries. West Indies' Shai Hope trailed closely with 1760, while England's Joe Root ranked third at 1598.

Gill's breakout year coincided with leadership roles: Test and ODI captaincy, plus T20I vice-captaincy—though he missed the T20 World Cup squad.

In Tests, Gill reigned supreme globally, scoring 983 runs with five tons and a half-century. His standout 269 came against England in Birmingham during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he topped the series charts with 754 runs and four centuries.

Virat Kohli, post-Test retirement, focused on ODIs and led India with 651 runs in 13 games, featuring three hundreds—two consecutive against South Africa and one versus Pakistan in the Champions Trophy.

Abhishek Sharma exploded in T20Is, piling 859 runs in 21 outings at a staggering 193.46 strike rate. His highlights included a 135 against England in Mumbai, one century, and five fifties, earning him the No. 1 T20I batting ranking.

On the bowling front, Mohammed Siraj claimed India's most Test wickets (43 in 10 matches, average 27.20), with a best of 6/70 against England.

Harshit Rana topped ODI hauls with 20 scalps in 11 games (best: 4/39 vs Australia).

Varun Chakaravarthy starred in T20Is, snaring 36 wickets in 20 matches (economy 7.08, best 5/24 vs England), reaching No. 1 bowler ranking and a peak rating of 818.

These performances capped a transformative year for Indian cricket, blending youth surge with veteran grit.
