Landslide Halts Train Movement on Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Line, Jagdalpur Sees 3-Day Standstill

A massive landslide has brought train operations to a standstill on the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam railway line. Passenger and goods trains have been stuck at Jagdalpur for the past three days, causing major logistical disruptions and passenger inconvenience.

The landslide between Malliguda and Jarati stations near Koraput district of Odisha has halted the movement of trains on the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam rail line. Passenger and goods trains running from Jagdalpur are standing on the platform since Wednesday.

The railway is continuously working with the help of about 300 workers and 13 modern machines to remove the debris lying on the track due to the landslide. DRM Lalit Bohra of Valtair Division and DRM Amitabh Singhal of Rayagada Division are monitoring the spot. This operation, which has been going on for two days, is facing problems due to rain, due to which the pace of work has slowed down.

It has been told that a big boulder and debris from the hill has slid and fallen directly on the track, due to which the track has been completely blocked. Keeping in view the safety, the railway has canceled 10 passenger trains as a precaution. Also, the Rath Yatra special train going from Jagdalpur to Puri will now be sent from Koraput.

Railways has appealed to the passengers to get updates from the concerned helpline or website before travelling. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K. Sandeep has said that the situation is being monitored regularly, but a clear estimate of when the service will resume cannot be given right now.
