Raipur,C.G
The Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) has banned the supply of the drug Phenytoin after quality concerns were raised. A notice has been issued to the supplier, Systochem Laboratory Company, for clarification and further action.
Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) has banned the supply of Phenytoin Sodium injection, an injection used to prevent seizures in epilepsy and head injury. Along with this, a notice has also been served to the Delhi-based injection supplier company 'Systochem Laboratory' and the supply of standard injections of other batches made by the company has been stopped in hospitals. The company has been asked to send injections of a new batch. Apart from this, both the batches have been sent for quality testing again to another contracted NABL certified lab other than the lab that conducted the testing earlier. This step has been taken as a precaution.
News of Phenytoin Sodium injection used to prevent seizures in epilepsy and head injury being sub-standard had come out in the newspapers, after which the Drug Corporation has sought a reply from the company. In the notice, it has been asked that why was the sub-standard injection supplied? Why strict action should not be taken against the company for this.
