Traffic Rules Flouted in Judicial Capital by Reckless Drivers

In Bilaspur, known as the state's judicial capital, the blatant flouting of traffic rules by wealthy individuals continues unabated. Last night, law and order was thrown to the winds by young men in 15 to 20 cars on Masturi Road. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and seized all the vehicles.

This isn't the first time wealthy individuals have committed such an act in the judicial capital. Two months ago, influential and close associates of a BJP leader purchased a new car and blocked the national highway to make reels. They also celebrated the purchase by filming it with a drone, causing public distress.

After a video of the entire incident went viral on social media, SSP Rajneesh Singh ordered action. In-charge ASI KK Markam and staff deployed on Ratanpur Road stopped all vehicles and issued challans of 2,000 rupees each. However, the Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) neither revealed the names of the boys involved in the incident nor the vehicle numbers for which the challans were issued.

Instead of filing an FIR against the wealthy individuals, only a fine was imposed. Taking cognizance of this, a division bench of High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha and Justice BD Guru sought a response from the state government, forcing the police to take strict action.
