CBSE Board Exams Begin; CM Sends Best Wishes, Board Clarifies Guidelines for Objections

The CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examinations commenced on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, with over 46 lakh students appearing this year—approximately 25 lakh for Class 10 and 18.5 lakh for Class 12.

CBSE has clarified that all Class 10 students must appear for their first board exam. Students who fail to take the first exam in any three or more subjects will be categorized under “Essential Repeat”, making them ineligible to appear in the second board exam this year. These students must wait for the main board exams scheduled next February.

The second board exam is not an alternative for the first but is intended for students who have passed the first exam and wish to improve scores in up to three main subjects or for those who received a compartment result. Adding new or additional subjects after passing Class 10 is not allowed, and only core subjects from the first exam can be attempted.

Guidelines for Raising Objections

CBSE has issued instructions regarding objections to Class 10 question papers. All objections must be submitted via the OECMS portal on the same day as the exam. Complaints sent through other channels or delayed submissions will not be considered. Schools must clearly specify the error rather than general statements like “question is wrong.” For additional clarification, emails can be sent to qpobservation@cbseshiksha.in.

The board emphasized that delayed, vague, or improperly submitted objections will not be acted upon. Compliance with these procedures ensures that student concerns are addressed efficiently and accurately.chhattisgarh

Message from the Chief Minister

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai sent a personal message to students wishing them “All the Best” for their exams. He acknowledged that nervousness and excitement are normal during exams and encouraged students not to let fear overshadow their confidence, noting that fear is a sign of responsibility, not weakness.

With these measures, CBSE aims to ensure smooth conduct of exams, maintain fairness, and provide clear guidelines for both students and schools regarding objections.
