Cold Intensifies in Chhattisgarh: Drop in Bay of Bengal Moisture to Bring 4°C Fall in Temperature
Digital Desk
The weather in Chhattisgarh has turned noticeably colder as moisture levels from the Bay of Bengal begin to decline. With the weakening of a low-pressure area and cyclonic circulation over the Bay, humidity has dropped, leading to a rapid fall in temperature across the state. The Meteorological Department has warned that minimum temperatures could dip by up to 4°C over the next three days.
Cold winds have already started affecting the northern parts of the state, while central and southern regions are expected to experience a sharper drop in temperatures within the next 48 hours. Light rain and thunderstorms are likely in some districts of the Bastar division, but dry weather will prevail in most areas.
Cold Winds Strengthen Across the State
According to weather scientists, the low-pressure zone near northeast Bay of Bengal and Myanmar has now weakened, cutting off the flow of maritime moisture. As a result, cold north-easterly winds have become more active across most parts of Chhattisgarh, causing a noticeable decline in morning and nighttime temperatures.
Ambikapur Records Lowest Temperature
In the past 24 hours, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at Manendragarh (33.2°C), while Ambikapur remained the coldest at 12.2°C. The weather office predicts that this gap will widen further, with temperatures in several districts expected to fall 3–4°C below normal in the coming days.
Cool Mornings and Evenings in Raipur
In the capital city Raipur, the sky will remain clear with a maximum temperature of around 31°C and a minimum of 19°C. While daytime will see mild sunlight, the chill will intensify during early mornings and late evenings
